See the injured and abandoned elephants at Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. It is a sight to behold as the elephants make their way to the river. Three times a day they are forced to take a bath in the nearby river after which they are fed. It’s amusing and touching to watch these baby elephants being bottle-fed.

The Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya are the country’s oldest formal gardens. An estimated two million tourists both domestic and foreign visit this attraction each year. The park which is well-known for its orchid collection and its extensive walkways framed by palm trees is home to about 4000 distinct plant species.
